About the Department
The department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, established in 1987, offers UG and PG programs. The department has been recognized as Research Centre by VTU to offer M.Sc. (Engg.) by research and Ph.D Programmes. The B.E. program is an Autonomous under VTU(2007) and is accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) during 2002, 2005 and 2012. The Department practices Outcome Based Education since 2014. The department has well-qualified, passionate, dedicated faculty and has a well-connected alumni network. The department has an excellent link and MoU with industries.
The department is offering M.Tech in Power Electronics (Autonomous under VTU) from the academic year 2014-15.

Education, research and community services are the main goals of the Department and we are committed to achieve excellence in our goals. Our department offers one of the strongest Undergraduate, Post Graduate and research programs of National importance in the area of Power Systems and Power Electronics. For over 30 years, our highly dedicated and vibrant department has established a tradition of excellence in teaching learning & education innovation through project based learning. I see a future that is even brighter with the focused efforts of faculty in developing embedded control of Power Electronic systems.
Led by 20 faculty members, the programs offered by the department cover a wide spectrum of research in the area of Power Electronics and its application to Power Systems.
We place particular emphasis on enriching the students learning experience. Our department is strongly committed to impart quality technical education, and offers students the opportunity to participate in Research Activities of the Department by offering Summer Research Internships (SRI). The department offers numerous value added, skill development programme, audit courses and arranges Industry visits & internships to ensure the students are industry ready. Our students benefit from continuous revision of curriculum so that the excitement in ongoing technological advancements can be shared in classrooms. At the graduate level, our students engage in cutting edge research projects facilitated by our close affiliations with power electronics industries. These interactions provide our students the opportunity for team-oriented, Inter-disciplinary research and access to state-of-the-art laboratories.


Programme Educational Objectives (PEOs)
1. Excel in professional career and / or higher education by acquiring knowledge in mathematical, electrical, electronics and computer engineering principles.
2. Analyze real life problems, design electrical and electronics & multidisciplinary engineering systems and solutions that are socially acceptable
3. Inculcate and exhibit ethical values, communication skills and provide supportive and leadership roles in their profession to emerge as excellent professionals and adapt to current trends by engaging in lifelong learning to promote research.
Program Outcomes (POs)
Engineering Graduates will be able to:
1. Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics,science,engineering fundamentals,and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
2. Problem analysis:Identify,formulate,review research literature,and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics,natural sciences,and engineering sciences.
3. Design/development of solutions:Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety,and the cultural,societal,and environmental considerations.
4. Conduct investigations of complex problems:Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments,analysis and interpretation of data,and synthes is of the information to provide validc on clusions.
5. Modern tool usage:Create,select,and apply appropriate techniques,resources,and modern engineering and ITtools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.
6. The engineer and society:Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assesssocietal,health,safety,legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.
7. Environment and sustainability:Understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts,and demonstrate the knowledge of,and need for sustainable development.
8. Ethics:Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of the engineering practice.

  • Electrical Integrated Team of Engineering Students (ELITES) is a student association of the Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering.
